Geotrap is a daily geography game at geotrap.io. This page explains what information the game uses and why. You don’t need an account to play, and we never ask for your name or email.

What stays on your device

The game saves a few things in your browser’s local storage so it works the way you expect:

You can erase all of this at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.

Scores

When you finish the daily game, the game sends your result to our server so everyone can see how they compare. The result contains the day number, your random player ID, and your picks in each round (which countries you tapped, the power-ups you used and how the round ended). The server works out your score from those picks. Nothing in it identifies you. Scores are only used for the daily score chart, and we delete them automatically after 12 months.

Hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any website host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and some code libraries from public code hosts (cdnjs and jsDelivr), so those services also see your IP address when you open the game.

No ads or tracking

Geotrap has no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies.

Your choices

To have your scores deleted, email hello@geotrap.io with your player ID, shown below. Clearing this site’s data in your browser also gives you a new player ID.

Your player ID: none yet (it’s made when you finish your first daily game)

Children

Geotrap is suitable for all ages and doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
